Here’s how the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and newly launched Simple One square off, on paper

Simple Energy recently launched the electric scooter with the longest claimed range in India, the One. It comes loaded with fancy hardware, specifications and features but how does it compare with the Ather 450X and Ola S1 Pro on paper? We explain.

While the Ola S1 Pro is claimed to be the fastest in the segment, the newly launched Simple One is the quickest with a pretty incredible margin, thanks to the torquey motor as well as the reasonably powerful continuous power output figure. Even though the Ather 450X falls short on paper, it does not disappoint in real life, thanks to its consistency. Also, with a claimed 105kmph top speed, the Simple One looks promising and we can’t wait to put those claimed numbers to the test in real-world conditions. That said, we had put the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X to test together in real world and here’s how they performed.

When it comes to underpinnings, all three e-scooters are more or less the same except for the fact that the Ola S1 Pro gets a single telescopic fork. That said, the Simple One and Ather 450X are identical in this aspect, and the One really managed to charm us with its ride quality. Additionally, the Simple One runs on radial tyres, which means more flexible side walls that should result in better cornering confidence.

Despite being the heaviest of the lot, the Simple One is still the quickest. However, it will likely be less accessible to shorter riders than the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X, due to its tall seat and hefty weight.

With the biggest boot space in the segment, the Ola S1 Pro enhances the convenience factor considerably. That said, the Simple One isn’t that far behind.

Price & Verdict

Simple One

Ather 450X

Ola S1 Pro

1.45 lakh (as per new subsidy)

1.47 lakh

1.25 lakh

(all prices ex-showroom including current FAME 2 subsidy)

It is true that the prices of the Simple One have gone up as compared to its initial asking price. However, these prices are as per the new FAME 2 subsidy, which will come into effect on June 1. The Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X are still under the current/old FAME 2 subsidy and will get much more expensive than the Simple after June 1.

More importantly, although the Simple One is launched, it will only be available in Bengaluru for the time being (deliveries to commence from June 6), and will move to other states and cities eventually. So if you are looking for an e-scooter that is exceptional on paper, you can go for the Ola S1 Pro, but if you are looking for an e-scooter that is consistent and gets a bunch of usable features, you can check out the Ather 450X.
