MG recently launched the Windsor EV, its all-electric crossover, with a unique pricing model where the vehicle's battery cost isn’t included in its price and you pay an additional Rs 3.5 per kilometre for the battery usage of the vehicle. It is offered in three variants, and if you are considering the base Excite version, then this report is for you. We provide an in depth overview of what the Excite variant of the Windsor EV offers in 8 images.
Overall, the Windsor EV’s design is funky yet practical. At the front, the Excite variant features connected LED DRLs, and even being the base variant it comes with LED projector headlights. While the design looks clean, it does miss out on equipment like the chrome front skid plate.
Quirky design elements continue on its side profile, featuring flush door handles. It rides on 17-inch steel wheels which boast stylised wheel covers that look aero-friendly.
At the rear, it features distinctly designed connected LED tail lamps. Colour option for the Excite variant is limited to the Pearl White shade only.
The cabin of the Windsor EV is spacious, offering ample legroom, especially for rear seat passengers. With the Excite variant, you get fabric seat upholstery, and the all-black cabin theme is contrasted by gold inserts throughout. That said, you don’t get the soft touch finish for the dash top or door pads, which are limited to higher-end variants.
The second-row seats have a multi-level recline function for added comfort. And if 604 litres of boot space still feels short, you can fold the second-row seats in a 60-40 split configuration.
The Excite variant of the Windsor EV comes equipped with features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 6-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, and all four power windows with one-touch up and down functionality.
On the safety front it gets, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, a tyre pressure monitoring system and rear parking sensors
The MG Windsor EV is offered with a single 38 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 331 km. It is paired with a single electric motor setup that produces 136 PS and 200 Nm. It also supports DC fast charging capabilities which charges the EV from 0 to 80 percent within 55 minutes.
Introductory prices for the Windsor EV Excite variant start at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). As mentioned above, MG will charge an additional Rs 3.5 per kilometre for the battery usage of the vehicle. The Windsor EV rivals the likes of Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 while being an alternative to the Tata Punch EV.
