Tata Motors has revealed that after their recently launched Curvv EV, the Harrier EV will be their next launch in the electric car market. The electric iteration of the Harrier will be launched in early 2025, latest by the month of March as confirmed by Tata’s earnings call document. In Tata’s EV lineup, the Harrier EV mid-size SUV will be positioned above the Curvv EV compact SUV-coupe.
Ahead of its launch early next year, here’s what you can expect from Tata’s upcoming EV:
Tata Harrier EV: Design
In terms of design, you can expect Tata to take the Harrier’s recipe and give it styling tweaks which include EV-specific elements. The Harrier EV’s test mules that were spotted earlier looked production-ready and boasted a similar silhouette to the ICE Harrier. It was seen with freshly designed aero-specific 5-spoke alloys and to set it apart from its ICE counterpart, we can expect it to get a revised grille and tweaked bumpers.
Tata Harrier EV: Interior And Features
The EV iteration of the Harrier will likely feature a cabin similar to that of the ICE Harrier with chances of it getting different colour schemes.
In the features department, one can expect it to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a premium sound system, ventilated and powered front seats and multi-colour ambient lighting. Apart from the existing Harrier’s features list, it could also get the Arcade.EV suite and V2L (vehicle-to-load) features.
In terms of safety, it is expected to get level-2 ADAS, seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Tata Harrier EV: Powertrain
Tata had earlier confirmed that the Harrier EV will be offered with a dual-motor option with all-wheel drive and we had spotted the same on a test mule when it was papped testing in the high altitude terrain of Leh. Apart from that, we expect the Indian carmaker to offer a single motor option as well, along with multiple battery pack options to choose from.
While there is no sort of announcement on its claimed range, we expect the Harrier EV to provide more than 400 km of range in real-world scenarios.
The test mule had also revealed the new multi-link rear suspension which has been added to support the revised mechanicals. This new setup will replace the torsion beam setup of the standard car.
Here’s a look at the Harrier EV Concept which debuted at Auto Expo 2023.
Tata Harrier EV: Expected Price And Rivals
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). This will put it in contention against models such as the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 (electric XUV700).
