Tata Motors has announced that its cumulative sales of its electric cars have crossed the 1 lakh milestone. With a market share of over 80 percent, it’s no doubt that the Indian marque is leading the electric car market here. This is no doubt helped by the Tata Nexon EV, Tiago EV and the Tigor EV. Also, Tata retails the X-Pres T EV, basically a pared down Tigor EV, for fleet users.
Tata’s successful EV journey began with the Nexon EV back in 2020. It started with the Nexon EV , then came the Tigor EV and the Tiago EV. Out of these three, the Nexon EV and Tiago EV are extremely successful, racking up over 50,000 and 20,000 unit sales milestones, respectively. The Tigor EV is also a decent seller for the Indian marque.
Tata not only got their existing EV portfolio, right, but it also worked on one aspect which India was lacking big time: a rugged charging infrastructure. The Nexon EV came at a time when the EV charging network was at its nascent stages. However, with the help of Tata Power, the Indian marque expanded its charging infrastructure all across the country.

So it’s no doubt that with an impressive charging infrastructure and sorted cars, Tata Motors, who were the early adopters of electric vehicles, had a super impressive start. And the Indian marque is hoping to keep the momentum going on with its upcoming cars with high expectations on them.
Coming up next is the Tata Punch EV, which is already in development, followed by the electric versions of the Harrier and Safari. Later down the road, the carmaker will also take the wraps off an electric Creta challenger, the Curvv. So it’s safe to say that exciting times are ahead for those looking for a Tata EV.
