Tata Nexon EV Max is slated for launch on May 11.
Will get a new gear selector with Park mode, electronic parking brake, and hill descent control.
Adjustable regenerative braking to be on offer as well.
Likely to get a 40kWh battery pack, teamed with a more powerful 136PS electric motor.
Will be sold alongside the standard car.
Tata’s long range Nexon EV, slated for launch on May 11, will be called the Nexon EV Max. The highlight, of course, is its updated powertrain that enables it to cover more distance on a single charge. But that isn’t the only change on cards as the electric SUV will be getting a couple of additional features to stand apart from the standard car.
The latest teaser from Tata has confirmed that the SUV will get a new Park Mode. But the cool bit is that the rotary gear selector is new and houses a screen displaying P-R-N-D. Just behind it is the toggle for the electronic parking brake (EPB) and auto hold (first for a sub-4 metre SUV). The keen eyed will also notice the hill descent control button below the climate control knobs.
Another interesting point of observation are the two buttons with battery icons next to the EPB, and they seem to be for adjustable regenerative braking. Speaking of which, the long range SUV is expected to get a 40kWh battery packed, teamed with a more powerful 136PS electric motor. Together, this combination is expected to better the claimed 312km ARAI-range of the standard SUV.
There are minor exterior changes such as revised 5-spoke alloy wheels and rear disc brakes. A small glimpse of the interior shows that the dashboard is largely similar to the standard SUV.
Select dealers have commenced unofficial bookings of the Nexon EV Max ahead of its price announcement. It will be sold alongside the standard model at a higher price point. That said, it’s still expected to undercut more premium offerings like the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.
