Tata Nexon EV-rivalling Mahindra XUV400 To Come In Three Variants

The variant details have been revealed by the Delhi RTO website ahead of its launch in January

  • Test drives to commence in December, while prices will be announced in January.

  • Delivers a Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) -claimed range of 456km.
  • Likely to be priced from around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). 

The XUV400 will be the next big launch from the Mahindra stable. Test drives for the upcoming electric SUV are slated to commence from December onwards, while the price announcement and deliveries will be in January 2023. Ahead of its launch, the Delhi RTO document has spilled details on the XUV400’s variants. 

Mahindra’s compact electric SUV will likely be offered in three variants: Base, EP, and EL, and five colour choices: Arctic Blue, Everest White, Napoli Black, Infinity Blue, and Galaxy Grey. The easiest way to differentiate the electric model from its ICE counterpart are the contrasting copper bits and the closed off grille. 


In terms of features, the XUV400 comes loaded with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, a single-pane sunroof, and keyless entry with push button start. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

Powering the XUV400 is a 150PS/310Nm electric motor that gets its juice from a 39.5kWh battery pack. Drive is sent to the front wheels and the electric SUV has a claimed 0-100kmph time of 8.3 seconds. And when it comes to range, it claims to eke out 456km (claimed) from a single charge.

The Mahindra XUV400 will likely be priced from around Rs 17 lakh (onwards) and will lock horns with the Tata Nexon EV. Plus, the electric SUV will be a more affordable option against the Hyundai Kona Electric, which has nearly the same specifications.
