UPDATE: Tata Motors has launched the Punch EV from Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Motors is all set to launch the new Tata Punch EV on January 17 in India. This will not just be a new powertrain launch for the Punch micro-SUV, which gets changes on the outside, inside as well as new feature additions and ones that go more than skin deep. With this close to the official launch, let us take a look at the top 5 highlights of the Tata Punch EV.
As seen from the teasers and leaked images, the all-electric Punch looks radical compared to the petrol-engined Punch. The fascia of the car gets Nexon-inspired lighting, including LED headlights, LED DRLs, and a full-width lightbar with welcome and goodbye animations.
Towards the sides we have updated wheels and other details have remained the same as the regular Punch. Meanwhile, the rear, too, has received minimal changes limited to the bumper and ‘EV’ badging. You can take a closer look at the Punch EV via leaked images here.
Like the exteriors, Tata has gone all-out for the new Tata Punch EV’s insides, which gets noticeable changes. Main highlights include the presence of a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel, new dual-tone upholstery and an updated climate control unit. The new Tata Punch EV will get tech like a new fully digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera system and an electronic parking brake. In terms of safety features, the Tata Punch EV will come with six airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard.

In terms of pricing, we can expect Tata to launch the car around the Rs 12 lakh mark (ex-showroom). The Punch EV will rival the likes of the Citroen eC3 and will be an SUV alternative to models like Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV.
