In our earlier report, we have given you detailed coverage of what the Tata Punch EV’s base variant packs. Today, we’ll be doing the same for the one-above-base Smart+ variant. For reference, the Tata Punch EV comes in five broad variants and two powertrain options.
On the outside, the Punch EV Smart+ looks similar to the entry-level model. So you get LED DRLs that aren’t connected and don't have sequential turn indicators. You also get LED headlights, but they aren’t projector units and the fog lamps, offered from the mid-spec Adventure trim, have been skipped as well.
The Punch EV Smart+ sits on 15-inch steel wheels with black plastic covers. Keen-eyed viewers will also notice that it gets ‘.EV’ badging to denote it’s an electric vehicle.

At the rear, the Punch EV looks similar to higher-spec variants, featuring LED tail lamps and a bumper with silver skid plates. Keen-eyed viewers will notice the missing rear washer and wiper, a feature limited to the higher-end variants.
The Punch EV gets the same black/white dashboard, but keen-eyed viewers will notice that the contrasting silver accents around the AC vents have been skipped. That said, one of the biggest additions over the base model is the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with steering-mounted audio controls. This variant also relies on black fabric upholstery.
In terms of features, you get the aforementioned infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, a 6-speaker sound system, power windows, an air purifier and paddle shifters for adjusting re-gen.
Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and rear parking camera.
This particular variant of the Punch EV can be had with just the Standard Range powertrain option. That means you get a 25 kWh battery pack, teamed with an 82 PS/114 Nm front-wheel-drive e-motor, delivering a claimed range of 315 km. The more powerful Long Range powertrain with a 421 km claimed range is offered from the mid-spec Adventure Trim onwards.
Detailed specifications of the Tata Punch EV can be found in our in-depth unveiling story.
The Tata Punch EV Smart+ will set you back by Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It locks horns with the Citroen eC3, while being an SUV alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and Tata Tigor EV. To know our impressions on the Tata Punch EV, head to our in-depth first drive review.
