The Hyundai Creta EV is one of the most anticipated models set to arrive next year and its launch date has just been confirmed. The Korean marque will launch the electric Creta on January 17 at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. With just a month remaining before the Creta EV enters the Indian market, have a look at what it can offer in terms of design, features, and powertrain.

Creta-like Design

Hyundai Creta Front

The electric version of the Creta will feature design similarities with its ICE (internal combustion engine) version. From the test mules that have been spied multiple times, it's clear that it will have a similar face with the connected LED DRLs, and vertically placed LED headlamps.

Hyundai Creta Rear

Even at the back, it is expected to feature a connected LED tail lamp setup, possibly the same as its ICE version. However, it will come with EV specific elements like aerodynamic alloy wheels (possibly 17-inches), a closed-off grille and tweaked bumpers to set it apart from the ICE-powered model.

A Similar Cabin

Just like the exterior, the cabin will also take design cues from the ICE Creta, which has been hinted at in earlier spy shots. The dashboard will feature the same design with the dual-integrated screen setup, and we will see a two-tone cabin finish, probably in a different colour.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Steering Wheel

But, it will come with a new steering wheel, and the drive selector will be placed behind the steering wheel, similar to how it is in the Ioniq 5. The design of the centre console, seats, and the materials used in the cabin are expected to be the same as the standard Creta.

Features & Safety

Hyundai Creta Dual 10.25-inch Screens

Since it is just an electric version of the Creta, the features are also expected to be the same. It can get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof.

Hyundai could offer the Creta EV with a few more features than the standard Creta to set it apart. It is also expected to get some EV specific features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging support, and multi-level regenerative braking.

Hyundai Creta 360-degree Camera

In terms of safety, it is expected to be equipped with 6 standard airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor, and Level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) feature like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking.

Battery Pack & Range

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Battery Pack

Hyundai has not disclosed the powertrain details of the Creta EV, however, we expect that it will get multiple battery pack options with a single motor setup. Given its price and segment, the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to deliver a claimed range of over 400 km, and will definitely come with DC fast charging capabilities.

Expected Price & Rivals

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), and once launched, it will compete with the likes of MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Maruti eVX. It will also serve as a bigger and more premium alternative to the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
