There is just something lovely about retro motorcycles. They look great and feel great. But, how do we make sure that these gems of the internal combustion world survive when the dinosaur juice runs out? Bike builder Danny Mantyla has a solution as he has converted a 1967 Honda CA160 Dream into an electric motorcycle - Dream-E.
The most important bit of this conversion is that the iconic styling of the motorcycle isn’t lost and it still looks as beautiful as it did in the 60s. The custom battery pack is made out of up-cycled LG Chem pouch cells packaged by Mantyla himself. It sits cleanly where the engine would conventionally be placed. The attention to detail in the battery casing, too, plays an important part in retaining the retro value of the bike with its clean teardrop shape.
It is powered by a 4kW hub motor and claims almost 90kmph of top speed. But the true fun of riding a bike like this would be ambling around at 50-60kmph on old city roads. The bike is also said to claim a real-world range of around 32km, so the fun might not last for long.
Some bits like the handlebar, headlight internals and saddle have been updated with custom parts for more convenience while riding in the modern day.

While plenty of two-wheeler manufacturers are entering the EV space, the designs are either futuristic or sporty, so something like this coming across is quite refreshing. What do you think about this electric conversion? Let us know in the comments.
