CCTV footage showing an Ola S1 owner taking his electric scooter into the elevator to charge it at home has surfaced online. Taking your electric two-wheeler up an elevator is something we don’t condone, but unfortunately, the poor charging infrastructure in many parts of the country has forced many people to take such steps.
In case of Ola Electric, the company is expanding its Hypercharger fast-charging network, but there’s no option to set up a home charger like Ather Energy has with the Ather Dot or Bajaj Chetak’s home charging box. This leaves the owner at the mercy of their residence’s charging infra. Though most new residential complexes have provisions to charge EVs now, many places don’t have any.
The likes of Hero MotoCorp, Honda and even Ola Electric are teaming up with petroleum giants to set up public charging networks across the country. However, we are still a few years away from having a reliable and vast charging infrastructure.
