XEV 7e’s design and interior leaked via images from the infotainment system.
It is expected to be Mahindra’s third offering in their ‘electric origin SUV’ lineup after the BE 6e and XEV 9e.
Borrows certain design elements from the XEV 9e and gets a three-row seating layout.
Inside, it gets the same cabin design with triple screen layout and white/grey upholstery as the XEV 9e.
It could get a dual motor setup and an all-wheel-drivetrain.
It is expected to be launched sometime in 2025.
Mahindra has been riding high on the buzz generated by its latest EVs – the BE 6e and XEV 9e. Now, shots of an infotainment display surfaced online, leaking the production version of their fourth electric SUV, the all-electric XUV700. It was earlier showcased as the XUV.e8 concept and Mahindra has trademarked the name ‘XEV 7e’ which could be the possible name for the final production-spec model. Let’s see what the leaked images have to give away, next.
The Mahindra XEV 7e’s production-ready design closely mirrors the prototype e8. It is largely similar to the XEV 9e in several aspects.
At the front, it features a connected light bar and inverted L shaped LED DRLs with vertically stacked headlights and fog lamps housed within a V-shaped enclosure underneath. The blanked-off grille gets a body-colour finish, accented with parallel straight lines. These design cues are very similar to what we have seen in the XEV 9e.
The XEV 7e distinguishes itself in profile with a conventional SUV roofline and has a silhouette similar to the XUV700. We can find roof rails and flush-fitted door handles, however it differentiates with blacked-out ORVMs and shedding off the thick body cladding and wheel arches making the SUV look less sporty and more sophisticated. It also gets different alloys with aero covers to set it apart from the XUV700.
At the rear, the 7e gets wraparound taillights similar to the XUV700, instead of the sleek connected lighting like the XEV 9e.
The infinity Mahindra logo features on both the front and rear, but in the front it is placed on the grille instead of the bonnet (likely illuminated).
Spy shots reveal an interior design largely inspired from the XEV 9e, featuring a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo and a triple-screen dashboard layout. The center console gets piano black inserts for a more premium look.
The cabin follows Mahindra's signature white theme as seen in many of their new launches lately, which they call Ivory White. It is further accentuated by grey outlines, a styling element also seen in the XEV 9e.
The XEV 7e will offer a three-row seating configuration, with a 6-seater option featuring captain seats, as evident from leaked images. It is also expected to have a 7-seater variant with bench seating. While in the 6-seater layout, we can find dedicated armrests, we also expect a second-row armrest with cupholders, in the 7-seater variant as well.
In terms of features, the XEV 7e is expected to carry over most modern amenities from its family’s electric origin SUV siblings, including the XEV 9e’s expansive 43-inch triple-display setup for infotainment, instrument cluster, and passenger entertainment. Other features should include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting and connected car technology.
On the safety front, it should include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera with parking sensors and level-2 ADAS functionalities.
The XEV 7e is likely to be powered by a dual-motor setup with an all-wheel-drive configuration and even a screenshot snippet from the infotainment system shows a graphic on how much power is being sent to each wheel. Built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, it is also expected to offer a 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options like the XEV 9e and BE 6e. The claimed range figures would definitely vary and can be as much as 650 km.
While Mahindra has yet to confirm an official launch timeline for the XEV 7e, they will probably bask in the hype of the BE 6e and XEV 9e a little more, hence launching the XEV 7e sometime in 2025. It is expected to be priced from Rs 20.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, it will rival the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and will also be a three-row SUV alternative to the XEV 9e.
