From microcars like the VF3 to full-fledged family SUVs like the VF9, VinFast showcased a range of compelling cars at the Auto Expo!

VinFast is a popular Vietnamese carmaker, known for its presence in multiple foreign countries. At the Auto Expo 2025, VinFast showcased plenty of interesting cars including the VF3, VF6, VF7, VF e34, VF Wild and the VF9. VinFast has been testing its cars in India for quite some time now, and it is expected that the VF6 and VF7 will be their first two SUVs for the Indian market.

But, what are these cars? When are they going to launch them? Will they manufacture them locally? We have answers to all these questions:

VinFast Manufacturing Plant

As part of its commitment to India, VinFast has already invested in a manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Just like popular brands like Mahindra, Renault, and Honda use their manufacturing plants in India to export their cars to other countries, VinFast will also be using their new plant for exports. In fact, this particular location was chosen since it is close to the seaport. The plant is expected to be ready by this year, and the automaker will also be investing in the setting up of battery stations across the country.

Why And How VinFast Can Make An Impact In India:

VinFast is known for its expertise in making Born Electric vehicles, which means that the cars will be underpinned by a dedicated electric platform. The automaker has a presence in the United States, Canada and Europe as well. In fact, it is also known to be a Tesla rival!

So basically, the carmaker aims to introduce its globally tried and tested vehicles on our shores. If their premium cars can be brought to our nation at a reasonable price, we are confident that they will be able to capture a market for sure.

VinFast VF6 And VF7

The VF6 is set to be VinFast’s first SUV in India, alongside the VF7. The VF6 is a compact electric SUV, which is just about the size of a Hyundai Creta but has a sportier design. The VF6 looks stylish and sleek with plenty of modern design elements while having an athletic vibe to it. Pininfarina, a famous Italian car design company, designs VinFast cars and what’s even more interesting is that the design company is majorly owned by Mahindra!

It features a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration. It makes up to 204 PS and 310 Nm of output while offering a range of up to 410 km. Here’s our detailed story on the VF6.

The VF7 is slightly larger (almost the size of a Harrier), but does not have proper SUV dimensions and looks more of a Grand Tourer. Just like the VF6, its design is what stands out and it is the perfect mix of modern styling and a minimalist design language.

Its top features include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment, 8 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting and more!

The VF7 gets a 75.3 kWh battery pack and delivers a WLTP-claimed range of up to 450 km. In foreign markets, the battery can be opted for with either a single motor (front-wheel drive) that generates 204 PS and 310 Nm, or a dual-motor setup (all-wheel drive) that churns out an impressive 354 PS and 500 Nm. Head over to this story to know more about the VF7.

VinFast: Other Cars

At the Auto Expo 2025, Vinfast also showcased their cute-looking VF3 micro SUV which could be launched in India as a rival to the MG Comet. However, there is no confirmation about its launch. Additionally, VinFast also showcased the VF8 premium SUV, the VF9 full-size SUV as well as their global concept, the VF Wild, which is an electric pickup truck which is expected to lock horns with the Tesla Cybertruck as well as the Rivian R1T.

The upcoming VF6 could be launched at around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), while the VF7 could be slightly more expensive at Rs 30 lakh. The former could take on the Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV, while the latter will go up against the Tata Harrier EV. The launch as per the brand can be expected sometime before the Diwali festivities.
