Volvo EX30 Cross Country Revealed Globally, What’s Special About It?

The EX30 is one of the most successful Volvo models globally, and the Swedish carmaker has now introduced a Cross Country version of the electric SUV, simply called the EX30 Cross Country. It is much more capable than the standard version of the SUV and also boasts a few rugged design elements to stand out from the regular iteration. 

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the EX30 Cross Country: 

Design 

The overall design language of the Cross Country version remains the same, but there are a few new elements and changes to the way the standard SUV looks. For starters, you get a darkened front shield and boot lid, with the fascia showcasing the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden. For a more rugged appearance, it comes with chunky front and rear skid plates. 

The wheel arch has been slightly extended and looks more beefed up. It comes with bigger wheels and the option of all-terrain 18-inch tyres. Additionally, you can also opt for a roof carrier. The Cross Country version’s height has been raised and offers more ground clearance. 

Interior And Features 

There isn’t much to speak about its interior since most of the changes have been done to what’s underneath and to the exterior. The cabin has a minimalist approach with the vertically-oriented infotainment screen dominating the dashboard. The interior looks sophisticated and there is plenty of storage space. You also get heated seats which is an obvious inclusion for a car that’s likely to spend most of its time in the cold. While there is no information about it yet, we also expect it to get heated ORVMs. 

Powertrain 

Volvo has equipped the EX30 Cross Country with all-wheel drive ensuring that it is capable of withstanding and handling the most difficult terrains. It boasts a 69 kWh battery pack which is capable of offering a claimed range of up to 427 km. It offers fast charging and takes as little as 26 minutes to charge from 10-80 percent. In its all-wheel drive version, it produces around 428 PS and 543 Nm.

Is It Coming To India? 

The answer to that is no, but the standard EX30 is set to be launched in India by the end of 2025. It will be the entry-level electric offering and is expected to be priced from Rs 40 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). At this price, it will be an alternative to the likes of BMW iX1 LWB, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BYD Seal. 

It would be cool to get the Cross Country version in India, as it would also be able to tackle the snowy conditions of the Himachal roads with ease.
