Tata recently launched the Curvv EV SUV-coupe on our shores, and has positioned it above the Nexon EV in Tata’s electric car lineup. The Curvv EV has been offered with multiple battery pack options: 45 kWh battery and 55 kWh battery. While it offers an impressive claimed range with both battery packs, we decided to test it and check how many kms it can clock on a full charge before its battery dies out.
So if you are in the market looking for a stylish looking well-equipped EV, you should watch our video to understand the Curvv’s potential in real-world driving conditions which includes a mix of city and highway driving. But before that, let’s take a look at the powertrain options offered with the Curvv EV in the table below:

Here’s our detailed ‘Drive to Death’ video of how far the car could take us before tapping out:
For the test, we took the 55 kWh battery pack variant which offers an ARAI-claimed range of 585 km. Obviously, these claimed numbers are usually not something which you can expect under normal conditions and anything close to the figure would be really good.
We began with the battery fully charged at 100 percent and showing a claimed range of 351 km. With the AC set to 23 degrees and ‘eco mode’ selected, we began our drive. Our test route included inner-city roads with minimal traffic, inclined city driving conditions, and highways.
Throughout the drive, the regenerative braking was kept as per what the situation needed. At the point where our tester had covered 197 km, the Curvv EV still had 50 percent of battery remaining. After completing roughly around 100 km more (around 300 km total), the battery dropped down to 25 percent. This point is where the Nexon EV usually taps out.
At the end, The Curvv EV delivered 381.3 km of range with one percent charge remaining. So the Curvv EV’s real-world range fell slightly short of the 400 km target, but the number achieved is still really impressive and is a step up from that of the Nexon EV. On regular flat plains, we reckon the Curvv might just be able to cross the 400 km mark.
