With the powertrain specifications of both the Punch EV and Nexon EV in check, find out how they perform in our ‘Drive To Death’ test comparison video below.
With both the Nexon EV and Punch EV fully charged, the former's odometer indicated 99 percent charge with a range of 289 km, while the latter's odometer indicated 100 percent charge with a range of 233 km. Both EVs are set to Eco drive mode with regenerative braking at Level 3. Given the test is conducted in hot summer days, the AC and ventilated seats are also switched on for the test.
For the test, long-range variants of both models were selected. The Punch EV has a claimed range of 421 km, while the Nexon EV offers a claimed range of 465 km. Our test route includes inclined city driving conditions, inner-city roads with minimal traffic, and highways.
The Punch EV delivered 258.6 km of range with one percent charge remaining, while the Nexon EV delivered 284.2 km with zero percent battery. Both EVs failed to reach 300 km of range. However, we believe that under cooler conditions, with temperatures not as high as 41 degrees, they might have performed better.
Prices for the Punch EV start from Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Nexon EV starts from Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV rivals the Citroen eC3, while the Nexon EV rivals the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
