Mahindra has launched the XUV400verse, a virtual reality experience for the EV.
It has a virtual showroom and car configurator with a virtual test drive experience.
Real-life XUV400 EV will get a 150PS drivetrain and 456km range.
Its price announcement is expected in January 2023.
While we wait for Mahindra to display the XUV400 electric SUV in dealerships, the carmaker has launched a virtual-reality showroom experience on the Metaverse. The XUV400verse, available at this link, allows anyone with an Internet connection to create a virtual avatar and check out the XUV400 EV.
“We are providing an environment that resonates with our next generation of tech-savvy customers, offering them an innovative and immersive experience.” – Veejay Nakra, President-Automotive Sector at Mahindra and Mahindra.
The online virtual dealership experience takes you to a showroom where you can get a guided tour of the EV, or just explore by yourself. At the virtual dealership, there’s a full 360-degree configurator available, where you can choose your XUV400 EV’s colour and drive it in a virtual city.
The fun part is, you can even play a time trial race in the EV, or drive freely in the virtual city, something like Midtown Madness or GTA games if you’re a gamer.
Mahindra has already given us the full details of its soon-to-be launched EV, and we’ve driven it as well. It’ll draw power from a 39.5kWh battery pack, good for a MIDC-claimed driving range of up to 456km. The battery will feed a 150PS and 310Nm e-motor, claimed to deliver a nought to 100kmph time of 8.3 seconds.
The XUV400 EV will be loaded with features such as a seven-inch touchscreen, connected car tech, electric sunroof and keyless entry and push-button start. Its safety kit consists of six airbags, all four disc brakes, corner braking control and stability control.
The XUV400verse VR experience is aimed at the younger generation of car buyers. It surely offers a more spectacular, enjoyable experience than simply visiting the website. As for the SUV, it should become available for test drives soon. The XUV400 EV will rival the Tata Nexon EV and is expected to cost Rs 16 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
