Good news for people eyeing the newly launched MG Windsor EV! You can now get your hands on the electric crossover and experience it on the tarmac as MG has begun its test drives starting today. If your experience is worthwhile, you can book the car from October 3 onwards. That said, deliveries for the Windsor EV will begin this Dussehra, from October 12.
If you are keen to get the Windsor EV, here is a rundown of all the important things you need to know.
The MG Windsor EV is offered in three variants: Excite, Exclusive and Essence. Its fresh crossover body comes painted in either of the four shades: Turquoise Green, Pearl White, Clay Beige and Starburst Black.

The MG Windsor EV is equipped with plenty of features, some of which are also best-in-segment. Key features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, a fixed panoramic glass roof and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system.
For passenger comfort, it has ventilated seats in the front row, 135-degree reclining rear seats for lounge-like comfort and 256-colour ambient lighting which expands from the dashboard to the door panels and you can change it as per your mood.
The safety suite of the EV comprises 6 airbags, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX and a 360-degree camera with rear parking sensors.
The MG Windsor EV comes with a single 38 kWh battery pack option. The battery powers the motor that returns an output of 136 PS and 200 Nm to its front wheels. With this battery unit, the car gets a claimed range of 332 km.
The battery gets a maximum DC fast charging capacity of up to 45 kW. You can have a 3.3 kW or a 7.4 kW charger for home charging.
Prices for the MG Windsor EV start at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). But it also comes with a battery rental fee of Rs 3.5 per km extra for the battery usage. You can also have the car inclusive of the battery, prices for which will range from Rs 13.5 lakh to Rs 15.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

At this price, the Windsor EV rivals the Tata Punch EV while in terms of features and specifications, it seems like an appropriate alternative to the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
