The KTM 1290 Super Duke R seems to be undergoing a cosmetic revision for 2023, based on the latest spy shots emerging on the internet.
While the overall silhouette of the Beast looks similar to the current-gen bike, a closer look does indicate that the fuel tank area is more sculpted, which is accentuated by larger and sharper tank extensions. The rear bodywork is tweaked too, with the number plate holder being shorter when compared to the existing model. It might be possible that the rear brake light is now integrated into the turn indicators, similar to what was seen on the 1290 Super Duke RR.
What’s peculiar in these spy shots is the hollow headlight design, which houses two vertically stacked projector lights. However, this setup might only exist to ensure these test mules are road-legal.
There does not seem to be any difference to the engine casing, and the 2023 iteration will likely be powered by the same 1308cc LC8 V-twin producing 180PS and 140Nm. Underpinnings continue to remain the same fully adjustable WP USD and monoshock, while the 1290 Super Duke R Evo will retain the semi-active suspension units.
KTM is expected to unveil the 2023 1290 Super Duke R by March 2023 internationally, though it’s unlikely to hit our shores anytime soon. That said, a KTM 890 Adventure R was spotted in India recently and here are all the details, in our exclusive story.
