Mahindra Thar ROXX

Mahindra is set to expand its  lineup with the launch of the much anticipated 5-door Thar Roxx on August 15. We already know that the 5-door model will offer a range of new features over the current Thar. And to make it even more tempting, it is also set to introduce several new features to the Thar moniker. Check out 10 such new features that the 5-door Thar Roxx will bring to the Thar nameplate.

Two Sunroof Options

To make the Thar more appealing, Mahindra will equip the 5-door Thar Roxx with not one, but two sunroof options. A panoramic sunroof was confirmed in an earlier teaser, and spy shots also confirmed the presence of a single-pane sunroof for lower-spec variants.

Thar ROXX

Notably, neither the 3-door Thar nor its earlier models were equipped with any type of sunroof, making this the first time for a Thar to offer this feature.

Larger Infotainment Unit

Similar to the recently launched Mahindra XUV 3XO, the 5-door Thar Roxx will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This will be larger than the 7-inch unit found in the 3-door Thar and will support wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay as well connected car tech for added convenience.

Digital Driver’s Display

The 5-door Thar Roxx will also feature a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display as seen in earlier spy shots. While similar to the one in the XUV 3XO, it will be a refreshing update from the analogue dials with the current Thar.

Automatic Climate Control

The upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx will most likely include a dual-zone automatic climate control system, enhancing onboard convenience. Additionally, it will be equipped with rear AC vents, further improving passenger comfort. The Thars of the past came with only manual air conditioning.

Wireless Phone Charger

Another first for the Thar moniker  could be the addition of a wireless phone charger in the 5-door Thar Roxx. This feature will elevate the premium quotient of the lifestyle off-roader and provide a clutter-free smartphone charging experience without cables. It will also help your phone be topped up while using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Six Airbags

In terms of safety, the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx will boast six airbags. The presence of six airbags will surely enhance the SUV's safety, as the current Thar, despite being offered with only dual front airbags.

ADAS

Another feature that will increase the safety quotient of the Thar Roxx is likely to be ADAS. Mahindra should be equipping it with this technology, which will get features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning, enhancing its on-road driving experience.

360-Degree Camera

Mahindra will equip the 5-door Thar Roxx with a 360-degree camera system as seen in earlier spy shots. Given the size of the vehicle, this feature will offer ease to its customers while parking and assist during off-road trails by providing a clear view of the terrain.

Keyless Entry With Push Button Start/Stop

Mahindra will also introduce keyless entry and push-button start/stop system in the 5-door Thar Roxx, which was confirmed in earlier spy shots. While it might not be a major feature for everyone, it will likely appeal to urban consumers looking for added convenience.

Four-wheel Disc Brakes

Initial test mules of the 5-door Thar Roxx were spotted with rear-wheel disc brakes, suggesting all-four disc brakes for the larger Thar. This will enhance its stopping power, as the 3-door Thar only features front-wheel disc brakes.

LED Headlights

In addition to the ten features mentioned above, the 5-door Thar Roxx will also introduceLED headlights - a first for its nameplate. Notably, the current Thar features LED DRLs but still uses halogen headlighting setup.

These are all the new features in the 5 door Mahindra Thar Roxx that will debut with the Thar nameplate. It will likely be priced from Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Force Gurkha 5-door and will be a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
