Just a week ago, the updated Aprilia SR 160 was spotted at a dealer yard. Now, Aprilia India has officially announced that it will launch the 2021 SR 160 and the SR 125 this month. Moreover, the first batch of both models has arrived at dealerships.
For 2021, the sporty Italian scooter gets a revised fascia with a new LED headlight replacing the dated halogen setup. Overall, the scooter looks even more aggressive than before. Bumping up the aesthetics will also be the new colour schemes.
Aprilia has also paid attention to the user experience with the new Bluetooth compatible LCD apparently borrowed from the SXR 160 for the SR 160. Rider and pillion comfort has also been looked after with the new split seat and grab rail. The 2021 SR 125 too could benefit from the SR 160’s cluster, possibly as an optional extra.
Both the SR 125 and SR 160 will retain the engine and underpinnings from the previous models. Currently, the 125’s motor makes 9.52PS and 9.9Nm whereas the 160’s belts out 11.01PS and 11.06Nm.
However, all of the said small updates will amount to a minor price bump. The outgoing SR 125 costs Rs 94,668 and the SR 160 retails at Rs 1.08 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi) onwards. So, we expect a hike of Rs 5,000 for the new models. This will make the SR twins even more expensive, considering their rivals, the TVS NTorq 125 and the Yamaha Aerox 155, offer way more features for a marginal price difference.
