Its design still mimics the G-Class, with LED headlights, circular DRLs, and fog lamps.
Gets features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12V socket, front power windows, as well as a four-speaker sound system.
Gets only a 91PS 2.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a 4x4 drivetrain.
Rivals the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
It’s been a month since Force Motors launched the next-gen Gurkha SUV, and now the carmaker has begun dispatching units to customers. It is offered in a sole variant, priced at Rs 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom, India), with bookings being accepted for a token amount of Rs 25,000.
What gets this offroader talking for a first impression is the boxy silhouette and high stance which give off retro Mercedes-Benz G-Class vibes. Other notable bits include LED headlights with circular DRLs, fog lamps, and a front grille that gets ‘Gurkha’ badging in the centre.
Being offered in a single variant, it comes with all the bells and whistles, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a four-speaker sound system, telescopic and tilt steering, two USB sockets for front- and second-row occupants, front power windows, and central locking. Handling passenger safety is a couple of front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, follow-me-home lamps, cornering lamps, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Powering the Gurkha is a 2.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, that makes 91PS and 250Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual and a 4x4 drivetrain. What really gets the Gurkha talking is its off-road cred with a low-range gearbox, manual (front and rear) locking differentials, front and rear anti-roll bars, and an air intake snorkel. It has a water wading capacity of 700mm. We also experienced its off-road prowess ourselves which you can know more about in our first drive review.
Force Motors is also offering after-sales services, as well as factory-fitted accessories to enhance the Gurkha experience. At this price tag it is an alternative to the Mahindra Thar, and will also take on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
