Honda Cars India will launch the 2022 City e:HEV hybrid sedan on May 4. Vehicles have already started reaching dealerships and pre-launch bookings are underway, The battery-powered sedan will be offered in a sole top-spec ZX Sensing trim. It will be the first mass-market hybrid offering when it goes on sale in the country.
The City’s hybrid powertrain pairs a 109PS electric motor with a 98PS 1.5-litre petrol engine, good enough for a combined output of 126PS. Drive is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT. Primarily, the City hybrid will be propelled by the electric motor with the petrol engine assisting it whenever you’re hard on the gas. The sedan also gets a few visual differences to stand apart from the regular ICE-powered cars. So the fog lamps are placed in a sportier housing while the logos at the front and rear feature a blue hue. Last but not least, there is a subtle spoiler on the bootlid and faux diffuser with carbon fibre-like effect for a sportier appeal.
Another main addition that needs a shout out is the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including a auto high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, lane departure warning and collision avoidance braking system. It also gets a new feature addition: rear disc brakes with electronic parking brake and auto hold.

The Honda City Hybrid is expected to be priced around Rs 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the 1.5-litre TSI variants of the Skoda Slavia and upcoming Volkswagen Virtus.
