It first showed up in September 2020 (globally), and now the 2022 Hyundai Tucson has arrived in India. It is Hyundai’s flagship SUV, and comes with a plethora of overhauls inside and out for its fourth iteration. Here’s everything new about the Tucson explained in detailed images:
At a glance, you’d be hard pressed to notice anything similar between the new and old Tucsons. That’s thanks to the former debuting Hyundai's ‘Parametric Dynamic’ design language. Fiery Red, Polar White, Phantom Black, Starry Night, and Amazon Grey are the monotone shades on offer, with the Polar White and Fiery Red shades getting an optional dual-tone roof. This new design language also comes with a significant growth spurt, which you can see from this table below:

The big talking point of this new design language is undoubtedly that bold Parametric slatted front grille. You get vertically stacked DRLs alongside it, with split LED headlights and a muscular bumper adding the finishing touches to the SUV’s face.
A flurry of sharp creases and lines give the new Tucson a sporty feel, while dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels complement that theme.
What catches our eye at the rear are snake-fang styled LED tail lamps connected via an illuminated bar, rounding off the exterior look.
Head inside, and the 2022 Tucson gets rid of a lot of clutter from its predecessor, with a minimalist dashboard layout, sleeker AC vents as well as the Creta’s four-spoke steering wheel.
Of course, being a flagship SUV, it’s got loads of features onboard, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated and heated front seats, powered front seat (memory function for driver), 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, as well as Google and Alexa voice assist.
The basics in passenger safety include six airbags, ESC, hill hold and descent control, all-wheel disc brakes, as well as front and rear parking sensors. But it's highlight is ADAS (first Hyundai in India to get it), which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning as well as driver attention warning.
Powering the new Tucson are 2-litre 156PS petrol and 186PS diesel engines. The former comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the latter gets an 8-speed autobox. The diesel mill also comes with an AWD system option featuring snow, mud, and sand terrain modes.
Hyundai is expected to launch the 2022 Tucson in India by early August at prices starting from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Bookings will open on July 18. It’ll go up against the likes of the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Citroen C5 Aircross.
