The SYM Joyride 300 can even be equipped with 16-inch wheels at both ends

Taiwanese brand SYM has unveiled the new Joyride 300 maxi-scooter at EICMA 2021. The new scooter will come as a replacement to the EVO 200 scooter. For its new scooter, SYM has strayed away from its traditional maxi-scooter design and build to conceptualise something unique.

For starters, unlike most maxi-scooters of this segment, the SYM Joyride 300 isn't built for comfort and leisurely rides. Instead, it tries to strike a balance between sportiness and practicality. The absence of a central spine means there is more legroom. But, there's highway pegs when you want munch miles. Then comes the 2-position adjustable windscreen which is just big enough to keep the windblast at bay. The design is very sporty and aggressive, thanks to the three-piece headlight unit flanked by integrated indicators.

Complementing this design is a 278.3cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 26PS at 8000rpm and 26Nm at 6000rpm. This engine sits in an underbone chassis suspended onto telescopic fork and dual shocks. For braking, SYM has deployed a 260mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear aided by dual-channel ABS. The SYM Joyride 300 rides on a 15-inch front wheel and a 14-inch rear wheel, but you can spice things up a bit by opting for 16-inch units at both ends.

Like one would expect from a maxi-scooter, there's plenty of storage, including a front storage compartment with fast-charging USB 2.0 port. It features a simple monochrome LCD display without connectivity options but flaunts keyless ignition.

The 2022 SYM Joyride 300 is expected to hit the streets in Europe by early 2022. Once launched, it will take on the likes of Yamaha XMax and BMW C 400 GT. Though the maxi-scooter is unlikely to grace the Indian streets anytime soon, we spotted the SYM Joymax Z 300 testing on Indian roads, so the possibility of seeing the Taiwanese scooter in India can't be ruled out.
