Toyota India has officially commenced bookings for the 2022 Glanza for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The 2022 hatchback is slated for a March 15 launch, and it will be offered in seven variants and five body paint options. It will be a petrol-only offering with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The 2022 Toyota will be offered in a total of four trims: E (new), G, S (new), and top-spec V. All trims apart from the base will get an optional AMT (automated manual transmission), taking the total variant count to seven. The features distribution is expected to be similar to the Baleno’s Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha trims. So, you can read the Baleno’s trimwise features here.
Speaking of the Baleno, the Glanza will get all the new additions from it, including a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, a head-up display, connected car tech (telematics only), six airbags, and electronic stability control. Bits like the automatic climate control and cruise control will be carried forward.
In terms of colour options, you have five choices: Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Gaming Grey, Sporting Red, and Insta Blue. The Luxe Beige from the Baleno has been given a miss.
The Glanza will get the Baleno’s 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and AMT. It will get idle start-stop tech, but there won’t be any mild-hybrid tech or CVT this time around. In terms of fuel efficiency, they will be exactly the same as the Baleno: 22.35kmpl for the manual and 22.94kmpl for the AMT.
Now that the Glanza will get a new entry-level trim, we expect starting prices to drop down to Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
