Toyota India has teased its upcoming facelifted Glanza hatchback for the first time. The premium hatchback is expected to get a revamped exterior and interior with several cues to differentiate it from the Maruti Baleno on which it is based. It will be launched on 15 March, and prices could start from Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
If you look closely at Toyota’s teaser image, it’s clear to see that the upcoming Glanza will have a distinct front fascia. The grille has a classic Toyota aesthetic that we’ve seen on the Corolla Altis and Camry sedans. Lower down, the 2022 Glanza has a massive air dam with a blacked-out lip below it. It’s flanked by foglamp housings on each side that feature C-shaped chrome strips. Apart from these cues, you can also spot the upcoming Glanza’s new two-tone alloy wheels.
Inside, the new Glanza gets the Baleno’s 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system. While the Baleno has silver trim pieces on the dashboard and steering wheel, the trim seems to be gloss black in the Glanza. In addition, the blue trim in the Baleno is beige in the Toyota hatchback. Similar to the Maruti, the Toyota hatch could also be equipped with an Arkamys-tuned audio system and cruise control. It’s likely to inherit the Baleno’s segment-first interior features such as a head-up display (HUD) and a 360-degree camera.
The 2022 Toyota Glanza is expected to be equipped with new safety features such as side and curtain airbags, stability control (ESC) and hill hold assist. It’ll also get rear parking sensors, dual front airbags and ABS similar to its predecessor.

Under the bonnet, the new Glanza is expected to be offered with a revised 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with idle start-stop tech. It’ll likely be paired with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, and the automatic option could be an AMT automatic similar to the Baleno. We’ll have to wait to see if the Glanza, too, will miss out on mild hybrid tech that was available in its predecessor.
We are likely to get a better look at the hatchback in the coming days, so watch this space for all the official updates and exclusive sneak peeks. It’ll be launched on 15 March as a rival to the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Tata Altroz.
