India’s beloved compact SUV segment got two new entrants in recent times – one was the Honda Elevate and the other was the facelifted Kia Seltos. While the former is a return for Honda in the segment, the facelifted Seltos is Kia’s effort to continue its already dominant ways in the segment.
In today’s story, we take a look at their respective sales figures for the month of September:

The Kia Seltos is the clear winner here. With 10,558 units sold in September, it recorded nearly double the sales of the Honda Elevate, which managed to reel in 5,685 orders. Despite the huge disparity, the Seltos isn’t the highest selling SUV in its segment as the Hyundai Creta still grabs the top spot.
Why the disparity?
To be fair to the Honda Elevate, it was launched in early September compared to the Seltos’s launch in July. So the Honda hasn’t had an equal amount of time in the market, and its sales could well see a rise in the coming months. That said, the Elevate was still the highest selling Honda for the month of September.

Another point to note is that Kia offers the Setlos with multiple powertrain and variant options that include both petrol and diesel engines, while the Elevate is available with a single NA petrol engine. As a result, the Seltos does appeal to a wider audience as it’s available in a far broader price bracket.

Prices for the Honda Elevate range from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia Seltos on the other hand retails between Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Both take the fight to a similar set of rivals, which include the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and the 5-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700.
