The 2023 version of Skoda's flagship 7-seater SUV features similar design and cabin layout. Skoda has also added a few more ‘Simply Clever’ features to the Kodiaq, such as the door edge protector, which automatically comes out when the doors open to protect the edges from scratches. Also, to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the SUV, the rear spoiler on the Kodiaq has now been provided with finlets to help with the airflow. At last, Skoda has also added lounge steps to enhance the comfort of the second-row passengers.
Inside, the Kodiaq still comes with a familiar set of features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit driver’s display (8-inch on the Style variant), panoramic sunroof, 12-way adjustable powered front seats with ventilation and heating function, and a 12-speaker Canton sound system with a subwoofer.
In terms of safety, the Kodiaq is equipped with nine airbags (standard), electronic stability control (ESC), park assist, hill assist, 360 degree camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Also, the Kodiaq has earned a 5-star safety rating in the crash test assessment performed by the Euro NCAP.
The Skoda Kodiaq still uses the same 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, but is now BS6 phase 2 compliant. It still develops 190PS and 320Nm, and is more efficient by 4.2 percent. The power is delivered to all four wheels via an all-wheel-drive (AWD) through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission(DCT). Also, the Kodiaq comes with six different driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual and Snow. Skoda claims that the SUV can sprint from nought to 100kmph in 7.8 seconds.
Skoda Kodiaq locks horns with the MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian. As seen before, we expect all allocated units of the Kodiaq for 2023 to be sold out within a few weeks.
