2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Old vs New: How Much Has Changed?

Maruti Suzuki has launched the new-gen 2024 Swift, it is priced from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.65 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets a whole lot of exterior and interior updates, and with a new petrol engine over the previous-generation Swift. Exterior 

The 2024 new-gen Swift’s front gets a fresher design with new elements, making it look different from the previous-gen hatchback.

The new version gets a new grille which dominates the front, and is flanked by a set of redesigned LED headlights with smoked effect. In the older car, the Suzuki logo was placed in the grille and there was a chrome bar for bling, but it has now been positioned above the grille. Even the chunky headlights on the previous car give way to sleek ones.

The silhouette of the Maruti Suzuki Swift looks similar to the outgoing model. However, the new-gen Swift gets a new set of 15-inch dual-tone alloys and door handles are now placed at the conventional position, instead of on the C-pillar. 

Moving to the rear, once again, the design is familiar, but there are changes. You will notice C-shaped (inverted) LED tail lights, which look much neater and fresher than the outgoing model. The tail lamps also have a smoked effect, giving it a sporty vibe. 

Interior And Features

Maruti has significantly upgraded the interior of the 2024 Swift. It gets a new black dashboard with a new layout similar to that of the Fronx. In the earlier model, the infotainment system was sandwiched between the AC controls and the AC vents (placed on top), while in the new Swift, you get a floating 9-inch touchscreen and a new design for the AC vents. The dashboard gets silver accents throughout to add a bit of contrast.

The Maruti Swift 2024 gets a host of new features over the outgoing model, making the cabin more premium and a better place to be in. The new features include a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (replacing the older 7-inch unit) with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, a wireless phone charger, and 6 airbags as standard. 

Additional features which are carried over from the outgoing model include cruise control, automatic climate control, analogue dials with a multi-info display and keyless entry with push button start-stop. In terms of safety, you get ABS with EBD, ESP with hill start assist, and a rear parking camera with sensors. 

Powertrain

The new Swift gets a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine making 82 PS and 112 Nm. It replaces the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which used to make 90 PS and 113 Nm. 

The new engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. With the new engine, there is a slight drop in power, but it offers better fuel efficiency with a claimed efficiency of 24.8 kmpl for the manual and 25.75kmpl for the AMT.
