Fourth-gen Swift resembles the current-gen car in design
Expect new tech like ADAS, blindspot monitoring and more
Changes on the inside include new dashboard, AC control unit and steering wheel amongst others
Likely to debut with the new 1.2-litre Z Series engine
Just days after showcasing the new-gen Suzuki Swift concept at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the camouflaged hatchback has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. The Swift is a popular model in India and is an important car for the Indian market.
The Swift Concept showcased at Japan previews the upcoming Swift for our market, which is expected to reach showrooms in 2024. Its overall shape and design is more of an evolution than an all-new design.
The front gets a new grille and headlights with integrated L-shaped DRLs, giving it a much sportier and Mini Cooper-like vibe. Its profile is reminiscent to that of the current model, though the shoulderline is now more prominent. It also gets new alloys and a conventional placement for its rear door handles instead of the C-pillar placement of the current car. New LED tail lamps and a tweaked bumper round off the overall design.
The interior is yet to be snapped, but the concept gets a new dashboard with a new floating touchscreen infotainment along with updated AC controls like the Fronx. The driver will get a new flat-bottom 3-spoke steering wheel and analogue dials with a multi-info display.

In terms of features, you can expect new additions such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless phone charger. However, the biggest addition is likely to be certain ADAS features thanks to a radar cut-out. One of the test mules was also seen with blindspot monitoring in one of the spy images. It could also come with six Airbags as standard.
Changes underneath the hood are also expected, as the Swift could get a new Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine instead of the four-cylinder mill of the current model. You can expect it to be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options.
We suspect the new-gen Swift to hit markets next year and it could carry a premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Punch as well as Renault Triber. What do you think about the new Swift? Let us know in the comments below.
