The Maruti Suzuki Swift is an important car for the carmaker due to its strong brand recall. Recently, Suzuki showcased the next-gen 2024 Swift and already, we have seen test mules of the car on Indian roads. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the updated car next year and here’s what to expect ahead of its debut.
The new Swift looks very familiar as it retains the silhouette of the outgoing model. Up front, it comes with an updated grille, new headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs and a new clamshell bonnet, giving it a Mini Cooper-like vibe.
In profile, the car looks similar to the current model, but look closely and you’ll notice subtle changes like the conventional rear door handles compared to the outgoing car’s C-pillar handles. At the back, it gets a dual-tone bumper and revised LED tail lamps with a C-shaped LED element, giving it a slightly more angular look.

On the inside, the cabin design looks familiar to the recent models from the Maruti stable like the Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Baleno. However, up here, Suzuki has relied on black, gloss black, and white hues for a sportier appeal. The layered dashboard houses a floating touchscreen infotainment, a new climate control panel and the driver benefits from a 3-spoke, multifunction flat-bottom steering.
Maruti has equipped the Swift with features like a 9-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, cruise control, automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start-stop.
It remains to be seen if Maruti offers ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features on the new Swift, but a test mule has been seen with it. You can read more about the Swift’s ADAS suite here.
Big changes here as the new Maruti Suzuki Swift will get a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated Z-series petrol (NA) unit. The carmaker is claiming an improved fuel economy as compared to the current K-Series 4-pot engine. Engine performance numbers have not yet been revealed, but at the time of unveiling in Japan, Suzuki claimed a better low-end performance while offering the same performance as the K-Series.
We can expect both manual and automatic gearbox options with the engine in India.
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift could be launched with a starting price of around Rs 6 lakh. Hence it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Triber and Tata Punch in the Indian market. Let us know in the comments what are your expectations from the upcoming new Swift in India.
