Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2024 Swift, with prices ranging from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.65 lakh (ex-showroom). It positions itself in a price bracket where you have options from other Maruti cars as well, such as the Fronx crossover. Although they belong to different segments, the Swift’s top-spec Zxi+ variant is similarly priced to the Fronx’ Delta+ variant, which also offers a choice of a turbo-petrol engine.
If you are eyeing either of the two, we have simplified things for you by comparing the top-spec Swift with the mid-spec Fronx.

Rs 9.15 lakh (MT) |
Rs 9.73 lakh (1-litre turbo petrol with MT) |
The price gap between the two models stands at Rs 58,000. However, opting for the Fronx means you get a more potent 1-litre turbo-petrol engine that’s massive fun to drive. Notably, the Delta+ variant is solely offered with the 5-speed manual transmission, and if you are seeking an automatic gearbox with the 1-litre turbo you must opt for the higher-spec variants.

In terms of size, there's no doubt that the Fronx emerges as the larger vehicle, being a crossover. It also has a larger boot than the Swift.

When it comes to features, the Swift Zxi+ offers a better package in both convenience and safety. It includes a larger infotainment unit, an upgraded 6-speaker ARKAMYS audio system, six airbags, and a reverse parking camera.
However, the Fronx is equipped with larger 16-inch alloy wheels than the 15-inch wheels on the Swift.

It is the powertrain department, where Fronx outperforms the Swift. You get a more powerful 100 PS turbo-petrol engine with the Fronx that’s massive fun to drive. As mentioned earlier, the Delta+ variant is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission and if you want an auto with the turbo-petrol engine, you’d have to step up.
Meanwhile, the top-end Swift offers you an AMT for a Rs 50,000 premium.
In conclusion, both the Swift and the Fronx belong to different segments, and the choice depends on individual preferences.
However, we think for an additional premium, the Fronx is a better choice as it offers a more potent engine and a larger form factor, providing additional space. While it may miss out on some features compared to the Swift, opting for higher-spec variants can address this concern.
