2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Vs Hyundai Exter: Cross-shopping Comparison

The 2024 new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift, which was launched earlier this month, has been given a tweaked design, a significantly upgraded cabin, and a new engine. In this report, we will be comparing the hatchback with the Hyundai Exter, which is priced similarly, but has a different body style. Let’s find out what these two cars provide for similar money.  

Price

As seen in the table above, the Exter is priced slightly higher than the Swift for the top-end variant, but is less expensive if you opt for the base variant. 

Design 

 We can conclude that the Swift is longer and wider, while the Exter, being an SUV, is taller and gets a slightly longer wheelbase.

Cabin And Features 

When it comes to features, both the cars are identically stacked packing their own share of niceties and convenience kit. But a closer look reveals that the Exter packs in a handful of niceties that aren’t offered in the Swift.

From the table, we can see that the Exter gets more features, including a sunroof and paddle shifters, both of which the Swift misses out. The Exter also packs a dash cam and tyre pressure monitoring system. 

Powertrain 

The power figures and transmission options are almost identical on both the cars. However, the Exter gets the larger engine with an extra cylinder, while the Swift packs a three-cylinder engine. The Exter is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit for those wanting to save money on fuel. 

Verdict 

The Swift and Exter are catered to different requirements, but serve the same purpose more or less. The Exter is taller and packs more features, while the Swift is longer, wider, and slightly less expensive. Both Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai offer top-notch service in India, so maintenance of both these cars shouldn't be too costly.
