2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift vs Tata Punch: Cross-Segment Comparison

Dimensions

It is pretty evident from the table above that the Tata Punch is wider and taller than the Maruti Suzuki Swift, while the latter is longer. The Punch even commands a higher ground clearance owing to its micro SUV segment and larger boot capacity.  

Feature Highlights

Both these cars are well-equipped when it comes to comfort, convenience and safety features. Considering the customer requirements, both the cars get an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (Swift gets a larger 9-inch screen), reverse parking camera with sensors, automatic climate control system, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, cruise control and connected-car tech. The Tata Punch misses out on a wireless phone charger, but is equipped with a sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a part-digital driver’s display which the Swift misses out on. The Swift even misses out on armrests for the front seats. 

Safety features in the Swift encompasses six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard across the variants, while the Punch only gets 2 front airbags as standard.  

Powertrain

There isn't much of a difference in both the car’s power outputs, but the Punch sits a little higher on paper. The Punch additionally gets a CNG variant which further increases its value proposition. 

Prices

All prices ex-showroom

The Tata Punch gets a lower entry level price tag of Rs 6.12 lakh, which is Rs 37,000 cheaper than the base LXI variant of the Swift, while the top-spec trim is Rs 55,000 more expensive, costing Rs 10.19 lakh (ex-showroom).  

Both these hatchbacks rival the Tata Tiago, Citroen C3, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Nissan Magnite and Hyundai Exter.
