Renault Celebrates Its 50,000th Kiger Unit With A Stealth Black Shade

The Renault Kiger has achieved a key milestone in the form of the 50,000th unit rolling out of its manufacturing plant in Chennai over a year since its launch. To celebrate this, the sub-4 metre SUV now gets a new Stealth Black paint option.

The new body shade joins six other paint options in the sub-4 metre SUV’s lineup which includes Metal Mustard, Radiant Red, Caspian Blue, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White and Mahogany Brown. It’s highly unlikely that the new Stealth Black shade will get a dual-tone shade considering the other colour options come with a Mystery Black roof. 

This latest update to the Renault Kiger comes off the back of the carmaker giving it MY2022 updates. This includes the second from top RXT (O) trim now being offered with a turbo-petrol engine option, minor cosmetic enhancements to the turbo variants, a wireless phone charger and cruise control. Other key features in the Kiger include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Arkamys sound system, automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start. 

It also doesn’t compromise in safety with dual front airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, and ABS as standard safety kit helping it achieve a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating. 

Under the hood, there’s a 72PS 1-litre naturally aspirated and 100PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine to play with. Both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual as standard, with the NA petrol getting an optional 5-speed AMT whereas the turbo-petrol is paired with an optional CVT. 

Renault currently retails the Kiger from  Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 10. 62 lakh (ex-showroom). It goes up against a slew of rivals including the Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Urban Cruiser,Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300  as well as the recently launched 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
