The subcompact SUV market has been on fire with automakers constantly updating their vehicles to keep up with the ever evolving segment. Almost every brand today is trying to equip its cars with the latest tech and segment-leading features to improve brand recall. So, with the aim to provide the best feature-packed proposition, Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO to compete in the subcompact SUV segment putting cars a segment above to shame. While there are plenty of offerings in this segment, the Tata Nexon stacks up neck-to-neck with the XUV 3XO. Here’s a list of six features which the Mahindra XUV 3XO gets over the Tata Nexon and three features it misses out on.
The XUV 3XO offers a segment-first panoramic sunroof, a highly admired feature in India. It is the first subcompact SUV in the country to offer this feature. Meanwhile, the Nexon is equipped with a single-pane sunroof. Also, if you opt for the lower variants of the 3XO, it comes packing a single-pane sunroof.
Another unique feature of the XUV 3XO is its dual-zone climate control, which is not available in any other subcompact SUV in this segment, including the Nexon. This feature allows front seat occupants to set different temperatures for their respective zones, thus enhancing comfort.
The XUV 3XO surpasses the Nexon in safety with its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). It is the first subcompact SUV in the segment to offer level 2 ADAS, featuring adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.
The XUV 3XO is equipped with an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, making it more convenient and easier to use than the Nexon's mechanical parking brake lever. Also, the auto hold function helps while driving in stop-and-go traffic as you don’t have to keep your foot on the brake pedal while waiting.
For improved braking performance and safety, the XUV 3XO features all-wheel disc brakes as standard across all trims. In contrast, the Tata Nexon only has disc brakes on the front wheels, though its EV version (XUV400 rival) gets discs on all four wheels.
The XUV 3XO comes with 17-inch alloy wheels in the top-spec AX7 and AX7L variants, whereas the Nexon is fitted with smaller 16-inch alloy wheels. Notably, both SUVs have a tyre width of 215 mm.
With this, it's time to move on and list features which the Tata Nexon gets over the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
The Nexon gets the option of paddle shifters for its automatic transmission while the XUV 3XO misses out on that sporty feature and relies on a tiptronic system to shift gears.
While the Mahindra XUV 3XO gets an edge over the Nexon by hosting a dual-zone climate control unit, the Nexon gets an inbuilt air purifying system, which in today’s polluted environment is a boon.
The Tata Nexon scores an advantage here as it is offered with ventilated front seats, which the XUV 3XO misses out on.
To conclude, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is a better contender when compared on the basis of equipment and feature list. While the Nexon loses out on a few segment-first features, it is worth pointing out that it still gets a few niceties which the XUV 3XO misses out on, especially the ventilated front seats which are a boon in our hot weather. If you wish to gain more insights regarding the features and specifications comparison, head over to our story.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is priced from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh, while the Tata Nexon is priced from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.79 lakh (both ex-showroom). Both these SUVs directly rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
