The Kia Seltos, although packed to the brim, misses out on some key features when compared to its upcoming rival, the Tata Curvv

Tata Curvv feature advantages over Kia Seltos

With each passing year, the competition is getting stiffer in the crowded compact SUV space. Now, two more models are set to join the segment, namely the Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt, although as SUV-coupe alternatives to the more mainstream SUVs. The Curvv is promising to pack many first-time features for both a Tata car and even in the compact SUV segment, giving it an advantage over some of its key competitors. In this story, let’s check out the key feature advantages it will have over the Kia SUV:

A Bigger Touchscreen

Tata Harrier's 12.3-inch touchscreen

Tata will be offering the Curvv with the segment-best 12.3-inch touchscreen unit. It supports wireless smartphone connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. On the other hand, the Kia Seltos is equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment display, which only gets wired connectivity.

9-speaker Music System

Although the Seltos has an 8-speaker music system by Bose, the Curvv will come with a 9-speaker JBL setup, including four tweeters and a subwoofer as well. The difference might not be day and night in the real world, but the Curvv does get bragging rights on paper.

Map Navigation Display In Instrument Cluster

While both the compact offerings will share the same display size for the digital driver’s display, it’s the Curvv’s unit that will prove to be more functional as it will relay the navigation information from the maps app directly. This will help drivers in keeping their eyes on the road ahead at most times.

One convenience feature that will trickle down from the facelifted Harrier-Safari duo onto the Curvv is the powered tailgate with gesture control. On the other hand, the Seltos only gets the basic electric tailgate release as seen on most cars.

Hill Descent Control

While most cars get hill-start assist and hill-ascent control, Tata is going a step further to provide the Curvv with hill-descent control as well. The Seltos is only offered with hill-start assist.

Traffic Sign Recognition

Both the models in question here are provided with level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features which includes adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking (AEB). That said, it’s the Tata Curvv which will have one additional feature in the form of traffic sign recognition, which is also seen on Mahindra’s ADAS suite available on XUV700.

Headlights And Tail Lights With Welcome And Goodbye Animation

A feature that is more of a gimmick than of actual use is welcome and goodbye animation for the LED lighting setup on the Curvv. The Seltos is not available with any such animation although it also sports all-LED lighting.
