The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift has now debuted in the United Kingdom after it officially broke cover in Japan. Now in its fourth iteration, the UK is the Swift’s second market where the new car has been showcased. Changes are more than skin deep as the hatchback now gets an updated petrol engine.
The Swift sold in the UK market looks largely similar to the model sold in ‘the Land Of The Rising Sun.’ The revised front with the new grille, familiar headlights and updated bumper gives it Mini Cooper-like vibes. Its profile looks similar to the third-gen model, but you’ll notice it gets conventional door handles and a new set of alloys. An updated set of LED tail lamps and a revised bumper round off the overall design.

If you’ve stepped inside the Fronx or Grand Vitara, then things seem very familiar here as the UK-spec Swift gets a similar dashboard setup. That said, the black, white and silver theme does give the 2024 Swift’s cabin a sporty vibe. Other highlights include a floating touchscreen infotainment system and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
In terms of features, you get a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single-zone climate control, analogue dials with a multi-info display, wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push button start, and steering-mounted audio controls.
Passenger safety is taken care of by multiple airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD and most importantly, ADAS features.
Underneath the hood, the UK Swift gets the new 82 PS 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, teamed with a 12 V mild-hybrid system. Even though transmission options haven’t been divulged, it should be offered with the 5-speed manual and CVT from the Japan model. In India, the latter could be replaced with an AMT to keep costs in check.
The new 2024 Suzuki Swift is expected to be launched sometime in 2024 and with a slight price premium compared to the current model, which starts from Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Punch.
