The last month of the year has been eventful with 3 exciting launches, starting from the most recent the Toyota Camry, the Honda Amaze, and the Skoda Kylaq. While the Kylaq is a completely new offering from Skoda, a new member in the ever-growing sub-four metre SUV segment, the Camry and Amaze have received a generational update. Let’s dive into their key highlights.
While the 2024 Skoda Kylaq was technically launched in late November 2024, Skoda released its full prices at the beginning of this month. The prices range from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The sub-four metre SUV is offered in 4 variants: Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige across 7 paint options.
Powering the Kylaq is a 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which produces 115 PS and 178 Nm, and is offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, Skoda recently started the production of the Kylaq at its Chakan facility in Maharashtra and has already received 10,000 bookings.
The Amaze has entered a new generation, bringing in a fresh look inside out, a host of new features, upgraded safety equipment, and a segment-first Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Variants priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the sedan is available in V, VX, and ZX trims across 6 colour options.
Powering the new 2024 Amaze is the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine coupled to a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. This unit produces 90 PS and 110 Nm. It claims to return a mileage of 18.65 kmpl (MT) and 19.46 kmpl (CVT).
Toyota's globally renowned offering, the Camry, has entered its ninth generation, now priced at Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom). This update has brought substantial changes to its design and interior, while the feature list and strong-hybrid powertrain received minor changes. The Camry is offered in 6 colour options, while the cabin comes in a dual-tone theme.
The new-gen Camry gets an updated 2.5-litre inline 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with Toyota’s proven and tested fifth-gen hybrid system. The combined output of this powertrain now stands at 230 PS.
Going forward, we expect a couple of more launches and unveils to take place in December 2024, including the forthcoming SUV from Kia, the Syros.
