All Cars Launched In January, Check Out The List For Some Exciting SUVs And More!

From a mass market-focused brand like Hyundai to the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Lotus, the list has a diverse range of cars!

The year 2025 has started with a bang for the auto industry, with many cars launched and several cars revealed at the Auto Expo 2025. The good thing is that it's only the first month and we have already seen plenty of new cars, and we expect many more to come, especially in the EV and SUV segment!

In this article, we take you through all the cars that were launched in January 2025. The list comprises electric versions of two very popular SUVs that are essentially poles apart and cater to a different set of audiences! There are also some newborn electric SUVs and some other cars have been given model year updates.

Here is a closer look:

Hyundai Creta Electric

The popular Hyundai Creta has been bitten by the electrification bug! The Creta Electric was launched at the Auto Expo, with prices ranging from Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 23.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It retains the design language of its ICE sibling but comes with minor tweaks including EV-specific elements. It comes with two battery pack options and offers a claimed range of over 473 km. It can be had in five variants, and ten colour options. You can take a closer look at the Creta Electric at your nearest dealership.

BMW X3

At the Auto Expo 2025, BMW launched the new-generation X3 from Rs 75.80 lakh to Rs 77.80 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with some new design elements on the outside and minor tweaks inside. It is offered with the BMW Curved Display setup, a wireless charging pad, a heads-up display, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat; and a 15-speaker, 765 Watt Harman Kardon sound system.

It is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. You can officially book your X3, and deliveries for the same will begin in April 2025.

BMW iX1 LWB

A surprise launch at the Auto Expo 2025. BMW launched the iX1 LWB, at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom). It not only gets an extended wheelbase but also comes with more range. It offers a MIDC range of 531 km, and the motor generates 204 PS and 250 Nm, allowing it to reach 100 kmph from nought in 8.6 seconds. It comes with features such as dual-zone AC, a panoramic roof, a wireless charging pad, 8 airbags, and a 12-speaker, 205W Harman Kardon sound system. It is an alternative to Korean EVs like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Electric

The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class electric or simply the Electric G-Wagen was launched a few days before the Auto Expo, at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3 crore. The electric iteration of the iconic G-Wagon gets a familiar and similar exterior and interior but there is nothing familiar under the bonnet. The electric SUV packs a 116 kWh battery pack that delivers a WLTP range of about 473 km. There are four electric motors and each of them powers a separate wheel and as a result a 360-degree tank turn can be performed! The four motors together churn out 587 PS and 1,164 Nm.

Lotus Emira And Emeya

Launched together in mid-January, the Emeya and Emira are both very exciting cars that will capture attention on the road not only because of their breathtaking designs but also because we are not really used to seeing a Lotus on Indian tarmac.

The Emira ICE sports car was launched at Rs 3.2 crore (ex-showroom). It is the last of Lotus’ petrol-powered sports cars and has been introduced in three variants — Emira Turbo, Emira Turbo SE and Emira V6. It comes with a gorgeous exterior design and a very modern and appealing interior as well as plenty of premium features. It comes with two engines, a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine and a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four motor sourced from Mercedes-AMG (which also powers the A45). It is quickest in the Turbo SE variant where it makes 406 PS and 480 Nm, and goes from 0-100 kmph in a blistering quick 4 seconds.

The Emeya is a completely different car, it is an electric roadster priced at Rs 2.3 crore (ex-showroom). It might not be as attractive-looking as the Emira but has a stylish exterior and a very plush tech-laden interior. The Emeya comes with a 102 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum claimed range of 610 km. It produces a whopping 918 PS and goes from 0-100 kmph in a lightning-quick 2.8 seconds. Other Updates

Apart from these key launches, carmakers have also given model year updates to some of their popular models. These updates keep the cars more relevant and up-to-date. Here’s a look at all the cars that received updates:

  • Tata updated 3 models from their lineup, the Tiago, Tigor and the Nexon with some new features. The Nexon is launched at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) with new colours and three new variants. Updated Tiago and Tiago EV were launched at Rs 5 lakh and Rs 8 lakh, respectively. While the 2025 Tigor is priced from Rs 6 lakh.

  • Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Night Series launched at the Auto Expo at Rs 3.71 crore (ex-showroom). Comes with a dual-tone exterior with plenty of blacked-out elements and a black theme for the interior.

  • 2025 Land Rover Defender, priced from Rs 1.39 crore. It gets minor exterior and interior tweaks.

Electric cars are likely to be the future, which is why we aren’t surprised that out of the 6 cars, there are 4 electric ones. That being said, it is good to see so many new premium cars and we would really like to see them on our roads very soon.
