It’ll get premium features such as a sunroof and important safety updates, too
  • Will be powered by Maruti’s latest K15C petrol engine with a new 6-speed automatic option.

  • Features such as a 9-inch touchscreen, paddle shifters and connected car tech to be present.

  • A head-up display and ventilated seats may be offered as well.

  • Safety features likely to include a 360-degree camera, TPMS, 6 airbags and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the next-generation Vitara Brezza in India. The new SUV will retain its sub-4m footprint, but it’ll bear an all-new design, updated powertrains, and a slew of new equipment and safety features. It will go on sale by June-end as a rival to the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet.

What’s new in the 2022 Maruti Brezza?

On the outside, the new Brezza features a sleeker front end with narrow headlights and twin L-shaped LED DRLs. Lower down, it’ll get a trapezoidal black plastic air dam flanked by fog lamps that seem to be LED units. The faux skid plate is chunkier and silver-coloured; and overall, the SUV has a more rugged aesthetic due to its substantial all-around plastic cladding.

Maruti Suzuki’s designers have clearly been more adventurous, and it shows in the Brezza’s alloy wheels that feature a machine-finished 5-spoke pattern. Other exterior features include LED headlights, split wrap-around taillights with LED elements, roof rails and a dual-tone, contrast black roof.

The new Maruti Brezza will be powered by the updated K15C engine. Debuted with 2022 the Ertiga and XL6 MPVs, the new petrol engine is likely to offer better fuel efficiency and a 103PS/137Nm output. It’ll be paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system; and although the standard transmission will be the same 5-speed manual gearbox as the first-gen Vitara Brezza, the new generation SUV will get a 6-speed automatic transmission option with paddle shifters.

We expect the new Maruti Brezza to be priced at a premium over its predecessor, which costs between Rs 7.84 lakh and Rs 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom). It’ll be better equipped to compete with subcompact SUVs such as the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, the facelifted Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300.
