Electric vehicles have been gaining momentum at a rapid pace in the last few years. It has given birth to a number of electric startups trying to make their mark in this burgeoning business. One such startup is Coleen, founded in 2013. It is well known for its minimalistic, ridiculously expensive electric bicycles designed and manufactured in France. The company unveiled the Coleen x Aston Martin electric bicycle at the 2020 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas in January. So what’s so special about this edition?
Well, it has been made to honour the Aston Martin DB4, a grand tourer built between the late-1950s and early-1960s. To make it look as British as its four-wheeled forefather, the electric bicycle is draped in Almond Green colour, which is usually reserved for Aston Martin’s vintage performance cars.
Complementing it is a modern lithium-ion battery hidden away in the downtube. This 48V removable unit offers a claimed range of over 90km and can be charged fully in 2.5 hours. It comes with a 500-charge cycle warranty, which is claimed to keep the battery pack trouble-free for around 5-8 years. The battery is linked to a hub motor which generates 40Nm of torque at the wheel and offers a claimed top speed of 45kmph. There are four levels of pedal-assist for those who want to take it easy.
The handlebar clamp has a neatly integrated 3.2-inch full-LCD instrument cluster along with smartphone connectivity. Heck, it even gets keyless operation, call & SMS alerts, anti-theft alert and find-my-bike function. Oh, and it gets an LED headlamp and tail lamp too.

Coleen is yet to reveal the price of the limited-edition bike but we reckon you’d have to pay a bomb to get your hands on one of these. To give you a perspective, the standard production model on which it is based is priced from 5,990 EUR, which is approximately Rs 4.92 lakh!
