Bajaj Auto has started the deliveries of the Freedom 125 CNG bike. The world’s first CNG bike was delivered to Mr Pravin Thorat in Pune, who took the delivery of the top NG04 variant, priced at Rs 1,10,000 (ex-showroom), as currently only the top variant is available. Moreover, the pan-India bookings for the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike are now open as well.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 9.5PS at 8000rpm and 9.7Nm at 5000rpm. It also gets a bash plate to protect the engine.
The Freedom 125 comes with two tanks: a 2kg CNG tank, placed horizontally under the seat, and a 2-litre petrol tank for when the CNG runs out. The fuel mode can be switched seamlessly between CNG and petrol while on the go. The bike has a claimed top speed of 90.5kmph (CNG) and 93.4kmph (petrol).
The Bajaj CNG bike claims a mileage of 102km per kg (CNG) and 65kmpl (petrol), providing a combined range of about 330km. However, in our tests with a mix of highway and city riding, we got a CNG mileage of around 85km per kg of CNG.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in 3 variants: NG04 Drum, NG04 Drum LED, and NG04 Disc LED. The base variant has a halogen headlight, whereas the mid and top variants feature LED headlights and DRLs. All variants have bulb-type indicators.
The base and mid variants of the Bajaj Freedom 125 feature a full-LCD instrument cluster, while the top variant has a negatively-lit LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity and a call-receiving switch. The display shows speed, odometer, fuel gauge, gear position, real-time mileage, clock, and basic telltale lights. Additionally, the left switchgear includes a blue switch to switch between CNG and petrol modes, as well as an integrated trigger switch for high beam, low beam, and pass.
The base NG04 Drum comes in Pewter Grey - Yellow and Ebony Black - Red, priced at Rs 95,000. The NG04 Drum LED is Rs 1,05,000, and the top NG04 Disc LED costs Rs 1,10,000 (ex-showroom). Both higher variants offer 5 colour options: Caribbean Blue, Ebony Black – Grey, Pewter Grey – Black, Racing Red, and Cyber White. Read our review to know what we think about the CNG bike.
