Quick Highlights

  • Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike will available in Delhi and Kerala in the upcoming months

  • Bajaj has received more than 4200 bookings so far for the CNG bike from across the country

  • Dispatches to dealerships in Maharashtra and Gujarat have recently begun

Bajaj Auto has revealed few interesting details about the Freedom 125 CNG bike in the recently concluded Q1 Earnings Call. For starters, the CNG bike will be available in Delhi and Kerala by the end of the year. Currently, it is only available in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Bajaj has also said it has received more than 4200 pan-India bookings for the Freedom 125 CNG bike, indicating a decent interest in the bike. Out of these, 90 percent are from the two states it’s currently available in. Also, Bajaj has recently started dispatching the bikes to these two states.

Launch in more states

More CNG-powered two-wheelers have been hinted, stating that ‘Freedom’ is a portfolio brand, and not just one product – just like Pulsar and Dominar. Meaning there will be more Freedom branded bikes and/or scooters in the future. Also, the current CNG platform can be scaled up or down to make a more or less powerful two-wheeler as well. However, timelines are not yet disclosed.

Bajaj currently has a capacity of about 10,000 units and plans to expand it to 40,000 units. While this will help it cater to increasing demand in the country as it becomes available in more states, there could also be export plans in the works, especially to countries where CNG-powered vehicles are in use, or will be in the future.

Deliveries soon

There’s quite an interest in the Bajaj CNG bike in India, owing to its novelty factor and the idea of reduced running costs as compared to petrol powered vehicles. However, Bajaj hasalso taken this opportunity to urge CNG producers to consider increasing their network so that the bike could be made available to more customers in the country.
