Quick News Highlights:
The Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 was showcased at the 2024 Beijing International Motorcycle Exhibition in May. Now, its specifications have been revealed as the bike has applied for patent in China with the codename ‘BJ400-12H’. Despite it being called a Bobber, it has more of a cruiser design, sort of like a miniature Harley-Davidson Fat Bob complete with a V-twin engine.
The Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 looks muscular and has a commanding stance despite being a small-capacity cruiser. It features a rectangular LED headlight, sleek indicators, bar-end mirrors, a sculpted fuel tank and chunky dual exhausts - all very Harley-like. While it looks cool, we wish it had its own unique design language to stand apart. Like on all Leoncino models, it also has the iconic 3D ‘Lion of Pesaro’ emblem on the front fender.
The Leoncino Bobber 400 is equipped with a circular digital instrument console which compliments the cruiser’s overall look. It has a wide single-piece handlebar and provides a typical cruiser-like riding posture. The Leoncino Bobber 400 also has an external air intake with a unique transparent air filter housing on the right side.
The Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 is belt-driven and is powered by a 385cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine that produces 35.4PS and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While the power figure is not a lot, we hope it more than makes up for it with sheer torque. It has a top speed of 152kmph, good enough for a bike of this class.
The Leoncino Bobber 400 is equipped with an inverted fork and twin-rear shock absorbers. Braking is handled by discs on both ends with dual-channel ABS. It has chopped fenders and rides on chunky 16-inch alloy wheels, wrapped with 130-section front and 150-section rear tubeless tyres. Benelli says that it has a dry weight of 170kg, which is pretty decent.
Interestingly, this is the first cruiser in the Leoncino lineup and is also the first bike in the Leoncino range to get a V-twin engine. While it is expected to launch in the Chinese market in the coming months, the 400cc cruiser bike is unlikely to come to India any time soon.
