In November 2020, Bentley had announced its Beyond100 strategy with lofty aspirations to electrify its lineup by 2030. Fast forward to early 2022, and the carmaker has expanded upon that by announcing five new electric vehicles in five years starting from 2025 starting with Bentley’s first all-electric model.
Another boost for Bentley’s first battery electric vehicle is that the carmakers have confirmed that the EV will be conceptualised, developed and built at the carmaker’s headquarters in Crewe, England because the plant was declared carbon neutral. Unfortunately, that’s all Bentley has let slip about its new EV, with details of the other four electric models still under wraps.
To make this electrification journey a reality, the carmaker announced it’ll invest up to 2.5 billion pounds which Bentley claims will transform its entire model lineup and evolve its Crewe factory into a next-gen low environmental impact facility.
Bentley’s electrification journey began in 2021 with the Flying Spur sedan and Bentayga SUV getting plug-in-hybrid engines. Before we get to an all-electric future, the carmaker aims to have its entire product range of hybrid vehicles, PHEVs and BEVs, by 2026.
