Tata Safari Red Dark and Nexon EV Dark editions revealed.
Safari Red Dark is based on the top-spec Accomplished + 6S AT variant.
Nexon EV Dark is offered in the long range trim, packing a 40.5kWh battery pack.
Launch for both the SUVs are expected in the coming time.
Tata loves its Dark editions and the carmaker has now given that same treatment to two of its SUVs – the Safari and Nexon EV. While the former already got a Dark edition, a new Red Dark edition has been revealed alongside a standard Dark edition for the facelifted Nexon EV at Tata’s stall at the Bharat Mobility Expo. They are based on the top-spec variants of the respective SUVs and here’s what you need to know about them:
Remember the quirky red interiors that Tata had offered with the last iteration of the pre-facelift Safari? Seems like Tata wasn’t done with the bright red upholstery just yet, as it has given the Red Dark treatment to the facelifted Safari as well. It sits above the standard Safari Dark edition and is based on the top-spec Accomplished + 6S AT variant of the 3-row SUV.
Changes from the outside over the existing Dark edition are limited to subtle red highlights such as the inserts on the fog lamps, fender badging, the brake callipers and the Safari wordmark in profile and at the rear. The Safari was already a car with a dominating presence and this Red Dark treatment adds a slice of sinister to its overall demeanour.
However, it is the cabin where things become more interesting for the Safari Red Dark edition. The dashboard is finished in a Steel Black shade contrasted by a strip of red LED spanning across it. The seats are finished entirely in Red leatherette upholstery and you also get a few Dark Chrome inserts all around the cabin.
Given that it is based on the top-spec variant, it packs features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver's display, gesture-enabled powered tailgate, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, wireless connectivity for Android Auto/Apple Carplay, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats (6-seater configuration), an air purifier, a 6-way powered driver's seat with a memory function, 4-way powered co-driver's seat with an electric boss mode, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, and dual-zone climate control.

Its safety kit includes 7 airbags, electronic aids like ABS with EBD and electronic stability control, and a bunch of ADAS features as well.
There is only a single powertrain option on offer with the Safari Red Dark: the 170 PS/350 Nm 2-litre diesel paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Given that the top-spec Dark edition is priced at Rs 27.34 lakh (ex-showroom), the Red Dark will surely carry a premium over it when it launches soon.
When Tata launched the new and improved Nexon EV, there was one thing missing from its rather expansive list of personas (variants) and that was the Dark edition. Tata has now completed the puzzle by revealing the Nexon EV Dark at its stand at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show.
The exterior and even the interior changes are rather straightforward and what you’d expect from a Tata Dark edition; an all-black exterior with black alloy wheels and an all-black cabin too. Given that the Nexon EV gets connected LED DRLs and connected LED taillights, this all black hue is bound to look mean, especially at night.
The Nexon EV Dark will get the black treatment for the dashboard with black leatherette seats and the ‘Dark’ wordmark embossed on the headrests. Just like every other Dark edition, it will pack all the features offered with the top-spec Nexon EV.

A few highlights of the Tata subcompact electric SUV include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch fully digital driver's display, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, keyless entry, and rear AC vents. Its safety kit includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic aids like traction control, hill hold assist, and an electronic parking brake.
The Nexon EV Dark will only be offered in the long range variants packing the 40.5kWh battery pack with an ARAI-claimed range of 465 km. Propulsion duties will be carried out by the 143 PS/215 Nm electric motor. You can know more about the Nexon EV’s powertrain specifications here.
When launched, expect a price tag of over Rs 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Nexon EV Dark edition.
