Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of other dignitaries, including Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport, and Highways as well as Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry. The first day of the Auto Expo 2025 witnessed numerous new car showcases from Indian and global brands ahead of their market launch this year. The major highlights of the day include unveiling of the new Maruti Tata Sierra EV, Suzuki e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV concept, and the launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric. Here is a detailed wrap up.
India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki showcased the e Vitara. Its first electric SUV will have a range of over 500 km and will be available in two battery pack options. Set to launch by March 2025, the e Vitara will feature 10-way powered driver’s seat, front seat ventilation, and 7 airbags.
Similarly, Toyota also debuted the Urban Cruiser BEV concept at the Auto Expo 2025. This is essentially a re-badged model of the Maruti e Vitara, featuring similar styling language inside out. For India, it will likely be available in two battery pack options. On the other hand, the brand also revealed the Hilux Black Edition.
Hyundai introduced its Creta Electric in the market at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It has been priced between Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 23.50 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It promises a range of up to 473 km and comes in two distinct battery pack options. The electric SUV also gets additional features over the Creta, including a boss mode, digital key, foldable tray, and memory settings for the driver’s seat.
Tata Motors has had a busy day showcasing the new Bandipur Editions of the Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari. Likewise, the Safari and upcoming Harrier EV received a new Stealth Edition. Coming to the highlight at the Tata’s pavilion, the Sierra ICE was unveiled in its near production form alongside the close-to-production Harrier EV. Interestingly, Tata pulled the wraps off the Avinya Crossover, which sits on a new platform shared with JLR.
While these three were the major highlights of the day, here are other notable new car showcases, launches and unveils.
To begin with, Skoda showcased the long-awaited Octavia vRS slated for launch by July 2025. Then, the new generation Kodiaq and Superb also made their debut with their market introduction taking place in April and December, respectively. The first all-electric 2025 Enyaq from Skoda is set to go on sale in October this year.
Kia, the South Korean automaker, showcased the 2025 EV6 facelift at the Auto Expo 2025 alongside a new variant of its new Carnival, called Carnival Hi-Limousine. With bookings open today, the launch of the electric crossover will take place in March 2025.
Morris Garages, commonly known as MG, brought its Cyberster to the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The bookings for the electric two-door convertible are now open with deliveries starting in April 2025. Another unveil from the brand was the M9 – an all-electric MPV. Both offerings, upon launch, will be sold from the new ‘MG Select’ showrooms.
Mercedes-Benz presented one of the Maybach Night Series Editions in India in the form of the Maybach EQS SUV Night Series. Priced at Rs 2.63 crore (ex-showroom), the opulent electric SUV adorns an exclusive paint scheme, new alloy wheel, dark chrome and rose gold accents, and a dual-tone interior. Also, it launched the similar Maybach GLS Night Series at Rs 3,71 crore (ex-showroom).
It also showcased the CLA Class concept – a forerunner of the new entry-level lineup from the carmaker. There was also the G-Class Electric, which was recently launched at 3 crore (ex-showroom).
Although BMW introduced a single model today, it was special for the Indian market. It debuted the new iX1 long wheelbase at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom) with a range of up to 531 km. As the name suggests, the electric SUV gets a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Last but not least, Porsche showcased the new Macan Electric and updated Taycan at the Auto Expo 2025.
