BMW seems to be readying the new M4 sports sedan for launch in India. Our sources suggest bookings will open on February 10, and it is expected to go on sale later this month.

The M4 will slot between the M2 Competition and M5 Competition sports sedans and will likely cost a pretty penny at around Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom).

Globally, the BMW sports sedan is available in M4 and M4 Competition variants. The former has a six-cylinder turbo petrol engine that churns out 480PS/550Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual. In the M4 Competition, the engine is tuned for 510PS/650Nm with an 8-speed automatic.

All that power makes the M4 a quick coupe with a 0-100kmph time of 4.2 seconds. The Competition variant can shave that down to just 3.9 seconds.

On the outside, the BMW M4 features sharp styling and a massive kidney grille at the front. You get lightweight components such as the carbon fibre roof and forged alloy wheels as standard. Braces for the subframe make the chassis stiffer than the stock 4-series sedan, and the adaptive M suspension further enhances the car’s handling capabilities.

The dark-themed cabin has carbon fibre trim bits. You can also add optional carbon fibre trims and even carbon fibre sports seats. There's an 'M' button on the centre console to switch between Road, Sport, and Track settings.

The BMW M4 has a lofty expected price, considering it'll be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) in small numbers. It'll rival the Mercedes-AMG E63 and Audi RS5 Sportback in India. Later, the carmaker could also add the M4 Competition to its lineup in India.
